Terms of service
Effective date: October 2, 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and Social Bird, operated by Ricardo Andres Medina Serra ("Social Bird," "we," "us"), governing your use of the Social Bird app and website. By creating an account or using Social Bird, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy policy and Community guidelines.
1. Who can use Social Bird
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use Social Bird. You're responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.
2. Membership & billing
Social Bird offers an optional membership that unlocks features such as photo identification, recording and sharing sightings, your collections, map pins and saved spots, outings, target alerts, and community participation. Membership is $5.99 per month, with a 14-day free trial for eligible subscribers as determined by Apple.
- Membership is an auto-renewable subscription billed through your Apple App Store account. It renews automatically until you cancel.
- Any free trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Purchases, renewals, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms.
- Prices are shown in your local currency as set by Apple and may change; we'll give notice of changes as required.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, sightings, posts, and other content you create. By posting content that you choose to share, you grant Social Bird a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, display, and distribute that content within the app and its features for the purpose of operating the service. You're responsible for the content you post and confirm you have the right to share it.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse Social Bird. In particular, you will not post objectionable, illegal, infringing, or harmful content; harass or abuse other users; impersonate others; attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service; or share content that endangers wildlife (see our Community guidelines). We operate a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior.
5. Identification is a suggestion, not a guarantee
Social Bird's AI provides ranked species suggestions to assist you. These are not verified identifications and may be wrong, including for similar-looking species. You are responsible for confirming any identification, and you should not rely on Social Bird for decisions requiring certainty. Regional species lists are derived from historical occurrence data and do not indicate which birds are nearby now — see Data & photo credits.
6. Community content from others
Social Bird shows content created by other users. We don't endorse and aren't responsible for user content, but we provide tools to report and block, and we remove content that violates our guidelines. See Community guidelines.
7. Account termination
You can delete your account at any time from the app (how to delete). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our guidelines, or where required by law. You can stop using Social Bird at any time.
8. Disclaimers & liability
Social Bird is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee the accuracy of identifications or regional data, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Social Bird is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves and will revise the effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here limits consumer-protection rights you may have where you live.
